Cursillo Wellington celebrated 35 years in 2023!
Saturday 30th November 2024
St Paul’s Church
1 Langdale Avenue, Paraparaumu
11.30am shared lunch. Ultreya starts at 12.45pm
How great it will be to get together to prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ! (We have decided to start a bit earlier than first advised, so people have time to catch up properly and have lunch before the Ultreya starts at 12.45pm).
This Ultreya will have an Advent theme, including our usual worship and a small table discussion, talking about the symbols of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, and what each of them mean.
Feel free to bring along a friend if you wish, even if they haven’t done a Cursillo weekend. You may have seen my notice in Movement Online, advising that we are not having a Cursillo weekend in 2025 and that all are welcome at the “Ultreya” in Paraparaumu. This is all part of our focus on removing the mystery around Cursillo.
Please also bring a plate of finger food to share.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Kia ora koutou katoa and Greetings Cursillo Family,
March already, who can believe it! I hope this finds you all in good health.
I want to update you on where things are with regard to Cursillo in the Wellington Diocese. As you may recall, the national committee, New Zealand Anglican Cursillo Council (NZAC), met on 9 February.
We all agreed there is a need for significant change, we discussed possibilities including; winding up because Cursillo has had its season, 2 day weekends, pre-weekend online courses, or maybe doing it over three single days, or non-residential in smaller parish communities, and a number of other suggestions.
We had a wonderful presentation from Rev Carolyn Robertson on how millennials receive information about their Christian faith and living in Christian community. She shared with us why a three-day weekend in its current form would be uninspiring to millennials (those people now aged 27-43). She gave us a lot of feedback on our website/international websites and how they appear to younger people.
As a result of the above and the need to hear more suggestions, each diocese has been asked to go back to their Cursillistas and “dream big.” We are likely to hold a workshop at the Wellington DDU later this year, to consider what would be best for our diocese and Cursillo nationally. Some of us have also had the opportunity to discuss possibilities with Bishop Justin and Gendy Thomson (Archdeacon for Mission and Ministry). They are very interested in how our DDU discussions go. We ask for your ongoing prayer, to assist us with the discerning the Lord’s desire for the precious gift of Cursillo.
de colores,
Anna Jackson
Diocesan Lay Director.
